It's Time to Leave for France

Hello/Bonjour!

It's come up a lot faster than I thought it would, but I leave for France in less than 12 hours. I don't think it's really sunk in that I'll be traveling to the Pink City a.k.a. Toulouse, France then living over there for nearly 2 months.

Well whether it's sunk in or not, it's time to pack and leave. I went and grabbed the biggest suitcase we have which I kind of stuffed to the max even though I told myself I'd pack light. I figure two weeks of clothes will be good, then do laundry every two weeks.

For the flight, I'm leaving from Flint to Detroit then Detroit to Amsterdam then Amsterdam to Toulouse. I don't have any big layovers, but it's an 8 hour flight from Detroit to Amsterdam, so with the time change I will end up losing 14 hours. I plan on reading, listening to music, and hopefully sleeping. If all else fails, I can calculate some Mach numbers.

Stéphanie, the graduate student that is accompaning our program, set up a google site where we posted our travel plans. Luckily, I get in about the same time as two other students, so Stéphanie arranged to have a shuttle pick us up to take us to the campus. Otherwise, I'd have to take a taxi or the metro system.

I may or may not have internet access the first couple of days, but I'll put up another post by the end of the week to let you know how the flight and my first few days abroad went.

Gary
